Ever wonder where “beyond the wall” actually is? A place that looks so exotic it passes as another planet…
Pretty much the entire second season and any scene in the Land Beyond the Wall of Game of Thrones was filmed in Iceland!
Our students will visit a couple of the most famous filming locations, such as:
Thingvellir National Park:
North Westeros in Game of Thrones
Scene: Battle of the Hound and Brienne
Used for several scenes including when John Snow denounced the men of the Night’s Watch and pretended to side with the Wildlings. Not far from this lake is also the famous cave, Grjotagja.
This cave holds a beautiful natural hot spring fed by Lake Myvatn and heated by Earth’s deep volcanic activity. The hot water isn’t the only thing that makes this cave steamy. Game of Thrones fans may recognize this cave in the Season Three episode “Kissed by Fire”, which features John Snow and Ygritte’s love scene.
Not one of the 20 million Game of Thrones fan? No worries. Since you’re traveling in the summer, you can enjoy each scene for it’s true beauty.
